Brake pads (another set of questions)

  not a clio anymore

Hi all,

A few questions concerning brake pads. (and yes I did search the past messages)
- Does the kevlar ones really makes a difference in normal use, or is it just going to be better on trackdays? Also, is it better on normal discs as I dont intend to put performance discs yet.

- Already asked but not answered: will it void the warranty in some way if you fit performance pads ?

- last but not least, a few people were mentioning the k-tec kevlar pads (which are quite cheap really). BB performance tuning has some tarox pads which are close to £50. Are they that much better or comparable to the greenstuff ones from ktec or are they just plainly overpriced?

The kevlar ones will give you better performance, even on the road and the cheap K-Tec ones are pretty decent...

Standard pads are fine if in good condition or cheap replacements.

Performance brakes are sh*te when cold and over powerful when warm...

Ask BenR for his opinion...

That depends on the pad...

Ive had ones that need warming up to work, and others that work very well even from cold.

standard EBC pads are excellent value for money, you really cant fault em, better than standard pads and very cheap aswell, also less brake dust

However their Greenstuff ones suck!

Daz, I agree with you. It is just that I need to change my pads and the price difference between pads is not that great.

For the people who have used the standard EBC pads, does it suffer from poorer braking when cold compared to the std Renault ones?
