Brake refresh

  182 Trophy
Discs are quite worn, so I'm looking at replacing everything.

I've been hunting some braided hoses on the cheap, and have plenty of 5.1, but not entirely sure what to do about discs and pads.

I do not want to spent a huge amount of money on the best Brembo discs and expensive pads etc. but I'm looking for the best bang for buck.

I'm pretty sure this is likely to be OE discs and some midrange pads, but the question is what? Also, where to get them from? I have a friend who works for a local motorfactor, so the discs will probably come from there, but I suspect I'll be able to find the pads cheaper online somewhere?

Brembo HC Discs are often cheaper than OE, so go for them.
DS2500's are the best but aren't cheap, so it depends what you use your car for?

Fred has the right idea :) Although it is not just a road car, it is mostly and thus £100+ pads are wasted. Car is only really used as a toy so blasts on the road, autotesting and the odd trackday and hillclimb/sprint thrown in. I need a pad that doesn't take too long to heat up with the autotesting.

I can't see the HC discs being cheaper than OEM, but I'll certainly bare it in mind.

Has anyone tried Mintex 1141s?

All the recommendations for Mintex pads seems to be 1144s, however I've found some 1141s stupidly cheap.

^ I'm same price or cheaper for Brembos. Please support this sites Traders.

I used G 172 for my Brembo HC's front discs, rear brembo discs inc bearings, and brembo pads all round. better price than nextdaybrakes and delivered the next bloody day!! I've not had chance to change the brakes over yet, but can recommend the great service from G 172!

On my R26 just running standard Brembo drilled discs and brembo pads and I've never really needed anything more, they need a little work but once they are warm it doesn't half stop well, I think I've only experienced the ABS need to cut in once!
