Had a nast squeek coming from my brakes so decided to get a quote for new discs and new pads only fronts as it only a 1.2, renault quoted 165 for discs and pads so i decided to call the trust garage that has always done all my work, discs are close to being knackered and pads are pretty worn, also major play from track rod end, new discs, new pads and new track rod end £130 
I think thats a pretty decent price!
Any way, my car has some times had a bit of a knocking sound, when driving over bumpy surfaces, not the engine mounts, could this of been caused by the track rod end? I trust the bloke so if he says its got lots of play it will have lots and lots of play!
