brakes on 197/mk3s with card keys

does the brake peddle lock when you turn the engine off mine seems a little stiff to the point it wont move till the engine starts something doesnt feel right with it but im unsure i vaugely rember it moving before i start the car :S but it wont now

the correct method of starting it is to push the brake an push the start button :S

The servo stops working when the engine is turned off, so this will give a stiffer (oooh eeer) feeling peddle? This what you mean?

No all cars that I have driven are like that. Someone will be along with a technical explanation but I think it is that the mater cylinder isn't powered up so to speak until the car engine is running.

Try this, when you start the engine, keep your foot on the brake with some pressure, you'll feel the peddle sink a bit once the car is running. This usually indiacates the servo is ok etc. Brakes feel fine when on the move?

i put my foot on the brake i push the starter the peddle then dips by it self an returns but it makes a kind of rubbing sound when i aply the brakes

either way its freaked me out :(
