Brakes?

  Sunshine Bus ph-quick
When I brake in the RT there is a funny grinding noise, apparently its not the disks or rear ones- I've had them looked at & I've had the front pads replaced.

My stopping ability doesn't seem to be affected or anything there is just this grinding noise.

Its more noticeable when the car is cold, for example; I'll start it & it'll do it for about 5-10 mins or so depending on how many times I stop. I thought it might be dirt building up so drove for a little bit with my handbrake on to wear the dirt off but it made no difference :/

Any suggestions?

i have the exact same problem...! bloody french s**t!

i bought some new pads which im fitting today so hopefully that will stop the noise

as silly as it sounds but when you breeak can you almost feel the grinding on ur foot?

if you can id say it was the front wheel/wheels rather than the back

Could be rust on your discs after being left for a while , which is normal . Try driving with your left foot on the brake pedal for the first few mins , see if it clears up quicker than normal driving .

Doesn't sound like anything to worry about tbh .

I've had them looked at, and apparently there isn't a problem with the rears :/
It doesn't feel as if there is anything sticking either.Maybe I need a 2nd opinion or something? Is it likely to be dangerous if it is the rears?

The ginger one is *definatly* not in the arch, that was my first thought... :p

I haven't noticed any unusual feeling through the pedal.

I need to get my exhaust looked at because its blowing really badly anyway, so might ask the garage to examine the rear brakes just to check...

Remember most of the braking is done using the front discs anyway.

Drums / rear discs don't do a lot.

Most cars will do it a bit like mrbilly said, after a wash or frosty morning.

Its been going on for weeks :/
My car doesn't know what a wash is lol...

I might take it to ATS or somewhere just for peace of mind... are they likely to try & say there is more wrong with it than thee is because I'm a girl?

Are you suggesting garages treat different genders differently? ha.

If you are worried about it go with your fella / dad / bloke mate.

My local ATS & kwik fit are pants. If it were me i'd go to a recommended local garage & ask them to look it over.
