They had a 840 coupe in the showroom when I picked mine up was a stunning grey with gold pearl.

My car is in just now getting a electric folding tow hitch fitted, but they are having issues apparently so have had to order more parts. Sub 5 sec to 60 in a 2+ ton diesel is crazy.
Funnily enough mine has the factory fit electric towbar! It’s never been used! Lol

I need a local BMW specialist now I have moved....

Shame the AG has gone, but makes sense if it wasn't being used. Hopefully you get the bug again at some point. You ever had a mrk1?

I know I’ve dipped in and out of the thread before but decided last week to read it from start to finish. Lol. Hence why you may have seen the notifications of posts getting liked randomly.
Shame you’ve gone off the idea of a S1000RR. I’ve got one sat in my garage as we speak. 10 plate as well..... :geek:

It’s understandable isn’t it! I wish I knew how to ride the thing. I’m only storing it for a mate whilst he moves house. I’ve fired it up and gave it a rev or two though. ?

Yeah kids have a way of changing how you view things! Lol!
Well I definitely know how to ride mate. That’s one of the things that bothered my wife so much tbh. She knows I ride the same way as I drive, so she had concerns for obvious reasons.

Had a day to myself yesterday, so I managed to give the 30D some attention. Started off with a snow foam, followed by a bath and a going over with the clay bar. Obviously being black you can’t see just how much s**t there is in the paint, but my clay bar told me otherwise! After that it was time to go over it with the DA, orange hex pad and some chemical guys v36. The paint didn’t really need any correction, but no point going half arsed right?
After this I gave it a coat of AF spirit wax.

Results speak for themselves.

I also removed the 330D badge off the boot. Never been a fan of badges anyway, so off with its head! It also means that to the untrained eye, it could just be a 320D......now that would be embarrassing in your civic type r ?

What issues have they had with the egr’s?
google bmw egr mate......?
What’s a rough cost on an engine like that and how often would it need a refresh Mark?

Well it’s over £6k realistically mate. It would need a refresh or check over at the end of a season too. Checking cylinder compression throughout the season is key as it may need re ringing half way through to maintain performance. There’s over £1400’s worth of block work.

Well I’ve just said goodbye to MK11 FKU. I’m going to miss that car massively, but only covering 1200 miles in my ownership, and not using it since FCS last year, meant it was the right thing to do. View attachment 1409562It’s going to a good home and will be staying on the forum, so there’s one good thing!
Passed her yesterday in Broughtyferry, Dundee.....

What is your favorite brand of engine bearings? If you used tanged main bearings, do you grind the bearings or make slots into the engine block? I read lots of good reviews of ACL ones and also for King ones. For stock crankshaft I used the OE ones, but for regrind crankshaft I might use Mahle or KS, but the last set of KS was a complete bag of damaged bearings :))
What compression does this engine has? Or where is a point where f4r 730/6/8 goes above the reliability in long terms and could not be used as a daily or high mileage.
Thanks,
Radu

I used mahle bearings in my engine. Not a massive fan of the race type bearings. You need to machine the block for the tags, but that’s only a small amount of the work that needs to be done if you’re aiming for reliability.
That engine of mine was around 12:1 compression ratio, so still relatively low in terms of out and out performance vs reliability. They are however lifed to a certain number of miles before they need a strip down and measure up/refresh. I certainly wouldn’t use one as a daily and as for a high miler, nah. They won’t last at all. You can’t have everything unfortunately.
