Broken abs ring - knocking noise?

Hi guys bit of a problem, I went to fit rear hub spacers Saturday morning along with new discs an pads but the brembo discs I have to refit the old abs rings, well as they're old they cracked when removing them.

and so I had to put back on the rings to the old disc as on the new disc it was too loose. So now the dash is throwing up abs lights etc which I expected, but it makes a horrible sort of knocking noise when the wheel rotates.

it can't be anything else that that can it? I don't see why it would make a noise like that though that's what's confusing me.

When I had a split abs ring it did knock and shake but only under breaking as expected. But when the waring lights came on it stopped.
Does yours!?

Ermm I can't think off the top of my head to be honest, I have new rings coming but in the mean time I still need to drive the car

what would happen if I were to remove the ring completly until I get the new one?

Not sure someone more experienced will have a clue
Mine just flashed and kept warning me every morning when I set off to work but by the time I used the brakes a couple of times for speed bumps and it did its usual knocking and brake feedback the warning lights came up and the abs turned off and it was no bother.
