Broken Exhaust = less reponsiveness?

  BMW M3
Just wondering if its possible that broken baffles in my Janspeed would make it less responsive? Ive noticed it since their sports cat went on and im thinking that the increased air flow has further damaged the exhaust, and thus made it more sluggish on pick-up and just generally wizzyness !

Is this possible or am i talking horses?

Thanks

Is that not the characteristics of a free flowing exhaust?

Less power at the bottom of the rev range but higher at the top.

Dont know mate.... only really since the sports cat went on but im blaming the bust exhaust so far.

Pick up at speed also seems down. Eg. 70-90 mph.

Anyone able to confirm Day's statement about the characteristics of a free flowing exhaust.

Im sure its feeling slower with a sports cat.

Check the seal around the cat-exhaust....escaping air increases the sound and loses some power. Happened on mine...

Ive checked the exhaust and i dont think its leaking anymore. (was from the connection between cat and backbox).

There is no air escaping, just extremely loud when it gets hot and boomy.

According to edde , the 182 cat is probably as good as the sports cat . Have you tried putting the original cat back on and seeing how it responds ?

A post from edde yesterday :

Maz the 182 cat is a bit of a sports cat anyway 200 cell vs 400 cell for a 172 and sports cats are between 100 and 200 often.

Right... so i might then get a 2nd hand std Cat and see how it changes. Prob wont do it until my exhaust gets fixed, just in case.

Thanks
