BTCC @ Thruxton

  Oil Burner
So i was off to Thruxton this weekend with the BTCC. Thruxton is an odd circuit (i swear i say that lots), its only got a handful of photo opportunities even to the media, however with arguably the largest curbs of any circuit the shots you do have are pretty cool.

So here goes, perhaps some more standard shots than i would of liked, but hey ho.

As ever C+C appreciated!

1. Into the complex.

2. Getting ready for race 2 (perhaps background too cluttered)

3. Heading out to the grid

4. Plato making it look easy in race 3

5. Plato's decal applicator clearly has a sense of humour

6. Another Chevrolet shot (your marmite for this thread)

7. Jordan around turn 1.

8. Does it look any better in the dark?

9. Mr Griffin through Club

10. The two NGTC spec cars were getting some huge airtime over the curbs.

11. TOC had a pretty decent run, although a cracked manifold saw him out in race 2.

12. One of the highlights of the weekend was the contant efforts of the drivers to soak Alan Hyde at the podium presentations as it was his birthday. On the race 3 podium presentation Alan Gow and another official cable tied him to the podium, giving him the advice 'dont struggle'

Last pic is cool. Tells a story

I like the marmite shot, if the whole car was visible it would have been epic-er!

Yup, totally agree. Unfortunately between the shutter speeds needed and the speed of the cars its a case of spray and pray!

Here is another version with a bit more car showing.

Good stuff dude.

Personally like the 'clutter' in garage shot as its a working event.

For me the shot going to the grid is a corker.

Really cool shots - really like the 'marmite' shot, although as mentioned it would have been even better had the whole of the car been visible.

What lens were these taken with? I can see from the EXIF it must've been quite long i.e. 70-300?

Cheers,

All but 2 of the photos are taken with a 70-200 f2.8 +/- a 1.4x tc

Epic shots. You get a real sense of atmosphere from those.

Thanks, thats one of the things i go for in my images.

I like the first Plato shot. Something about the angle gives a sense of determination.

Excellent shots. 1 and 5 for me, especially if you could blur in pp the sign in the top of the frame in 5.
