Bucket seat fitting, subframes, existing runners, harness, etc. Advice and tips?

Just got a pair of Corbeau seats. 1 will definitely need a subframe as only comes with side mounts.
The other came with runners (Corbeau Clubsport) , so i thought maybe i could fit without a subframe

Having removed the passenger seat, it looks like if it wasnt for the running gear on the door side, which raises up above the threaded upward pointing bolts, you could fit the mounting plates on the existing runners? Is there any way to extend the bolts pointing upwards, (Then use some spacers to raise height a little) or get specialist bolts that would extend and screw onto the upward facing bolts.

If i discarded that idea, and removed the OEM runners, i then notice that because the exiting runners are staggered, you must have a specialist subframe to fit. Am i right in assuming that? To make it easier anyway.

Then we have the drivers side, and mine only came supplied with mounting side frames (Corbeau Pro-series 1) so assume have to have a subframe, altho may be a little lower than the passenger seat as will not be on runners

Last question- the bolts holding the runners on. The securing bolts of the side nearest the door dont go through the chassis, just the upper part of the subframe, any easy way to remove these bolts- Or just fiddle ?
And the side nearest the handbrake the bolts appear to go though the chassis around about where the exhaust is routed? I think i just grabbed one while feeling under (Non raised) the car. Any tips on this and am i correct. Any PITA areas or shall i just charge ahead

Any tips on fitting the harness, have a rear roll cage fitted.

Thanks in advance :)

original seats have 4 bolts that go through chassis and have to be undone from underneath car, the outer ones nearer the door are covered by 2 rubber bungs that you take off and can get to them, these two are the easiest to do.

The 2 inside ones in the tunnel, on mine with a KTEC exhaust were harder to get to, as on the drivers side the exhaust was in the way and i had to undo exhaust. also the inside ones are exposed to the elements and i snapped the bolt that is attached to the seat.

use omp or jon fos subrames that bolt into these original mounting holes, then mount the side mounts for the seat to these.

depending on where you want the seats and which seats you are using, i found it quite difficult to get the seat where i wanted it. i have got to the point now where i am going to mount the side mounts to motorsport mounting bars welded to the chassis as mine is just a track car.

As above you'll be needing subframes and side mounts. To bolt the subframe to the car you'll be needing some high tensile fully threaded bolts and either use the old nuts or get some niloc nuts with collars. I used m8x60 8.8 tensile fully threaded screw from screwfix, you'll need strong washers as well if you want to fit a scrotch bracket to the frames for the inner harness belts.

I can sell bolts and washers you will require for omp/jon foz subframe and seats fitting, as i managed to get them from a fastenings distributor a friend works at. They are motorsport spec and at least 8.8. All female hex (allen key) bolts. Washers. Off top of head i can do lot for about £5 plus postage. If interested i can get photo.

Ok will check tmrw evening what i used on my car and put a set together. I think i know what i used anyway. I have nylocs but they weren’t 8.8, so I used normal 8.8 nuts with spring washers to stop then from undoing.

At the risk of asking a stupid question what material is best for "strong" washers, I'm currently using stainless washers and bolts but having read a few thing not sure they are the strong enough.

Any links to appropriate washers & bolts would be appreciated, especially from Toolstation/Screwfix would be great.

You'll not find them cheaper either!

If you decide to use the Scroth b23a bracket you'll need to use a m10 bolt for that, which means you'll need to use a round file and open up the slot in the subframe.

Thanks for the links.

I have a Toolstation really close so easy to pick them up.

Yeah I have ordered these brackets. I'll wait for them to arrive and see if I need to make them any bigger.

I just used a m8 hex bolt with washers, no problem.

Fingers crossed I can use the M8 bolt and washer.

Have you any pics of yours fitted @Stuiemc or @JB21 ?

Make the sure the bolts are high tensile, please for your own safety 😊

TBH I've already got high tensile M8 & M10 bolts I was mainly concerned about nuts and washers. Do the above washers and bolts look ok?

Washers are fine, the bolts should be if they are high tensile. Usually only 8.8 grade though, i'd personally look for 10.9 or 12.9 grade.

Thanks.

I've got 12.9 bolts but it was was nuts & washers I wasn't sure of.

I find it hard to locate high grade nuts.

I'll pick up some washers from toolstation or Screwfix this weekend and then I know I've used the correct quality bolt, washers and nuts.

Thanks for your help @JamesBryan

I have no doubt they will work but just going off what they recommend as the bolt hole is something like 12.2mm so M8 is a bit on the small side.

Yeah, use a washer.

Can use an M10 if you want, shouldn't make much difference. Both will work.

So use high tensile bolts etc but then use the incorrect size bolt seems like it's defeating the point of safety haha. Personally I wouldn't want to use anything smaller than a m10 for an anchor point for harnesses.

So my Schroth brackets (B23A) arrives today. Below is a pic of the M8 bolt in the bracket without a washer:

It does overlap slightly but not much.

This is with the bolt pushed all to one side:

Below is a pic with a washer, these are only stainless however I will be using zinc ones when fitting:

What are people's views on this?

I was originally thinking of fitting between the subframe and the actual car therefore IMO the spacing between the nut and bracket is almost irrelevant.

I have some M10 bolts on route so I can use these should I desire.

Use the M10 bolts it will take 2 mins to slightly open the hole in the subframe. Using a M8 for an anchor point is bad in it self never mind using a washer to stop it from pulling through.

I think i've sourced all mine now however it was a nightmare and costly.

How much do you think you could obtain a complete set for?
