Buckled my alloy, opinions (pic)

Allways see these threads, and think, meh, it will never happen to me

driving along at 45/50, massive bang which sent the car on the wrong side of the road

within 2 minutes the tyre was totally flat

gutting!

is there anyway it can be fixed??

or is this a sign to get some new alloys

yes i know it doesnt look that bad

pretty much new tyre aswell

You definately need a new wheel!! Something similar happened to me last year and I bought a new one, I was told that it was near impossible to make it safe by trying to repair it!!

i know its not the done thing but i have repaired wheels when there like that with the hide end of a copper/hide hammer and a lot of swearing. but i only used to do that when the customer had no spare, but tell them to get a new wheel asap

I fixed mine which was worse than that. It balanced up too.

However I did have to put it on the back as I over 80 you could feel a very slight wobble through the steering.

Look at the alloy around where the wheel is bent. If the alloy is only bent there's a good chance a wheel repair expert can straighten it. But if there are any cracks in the alloy it can't be straightened.

I had this happen on my old car but it wasn't quite as bad as that. The guy at the tyre place used a mallet or something to almost straighten it and put the tyre back on. It was always fine but if in doubt not worth risking it I suppose.
