Basically I was out for a drive yesterday and had a really big problem getting my little clio up a steep hill, so I used a LOT of gas but afterwards my car has a really horrible smell of burning rubber, so I parked up and opened the bonnet and couldn't see anything and there wasn't any smoke or anything. So I waited for it too cool down and thankfully wasn't too far from my house and drove back. It didn't smell too bad - more like a lingering odour more than anything. Does anyone have any advice as to whether it's safe to drive etc? I was going to take it for a quick spin before I drive to work but I honestly am scared that it's not safe :/

Was probably just the clutch, horrible smell.
I don't mean to sound stupid, but is that bad? I thought it was the clutch but will it have caused permanent damage? :/ I'm really worried now hahaha

Take it for a drive. Just dont rest your foot on the clutch mate
I usually don't to be honest! I was just really struggling with this hill and yeah, basically that happened haha! I hate driving in Sheffield for this reason haha

yeah I took it out for a quick spin and no more nasty smell so hopefully that's the end of it ! Hahaha
It will have worn the clutch a little bit more than usual, but it's part and parcel of having a clutch imo - it gets worn a little bit every time you use it, so don't worry imo.
