my valver has seen better days. it was far from a perfect example when i got it 18 months ago, but i seem to spend all my weekends fixing things. recently put a new radiator on it and it needs a new wheel bearing, top mount is noisy, gearbox is clunky when cold etc etc. When your spending £70+ on a radiator on a car thats worth less than £400 it starts to get upsetting. its now done 130k its going to let me down when i really need it.
worked out that last year i spent nearly £2000 just on petrol so i was considering getting a diesel but cant quite bring myself to do it.
my other option was to buy a cheap mk1 172.
what sort of condition car would i expect to get for around £2000?
im guessing high miliage, maybe a few problems here and there, but as i can do all the work myself im not too worried about having to put some hours into it.
Also looking around and struggling to find a standard car anywhere. it would need to be standard for insurance purposes!
