Buying a clio.... colour...things to watch out for

After some consideration (after writing my BMW off) ive decided upon a 1.2 clio Mk2 Ph2 dynamique. Im planning on purchasing something with some warranty left and probably buying off a car dealer through auto trader. Im hoping to get one with climate control. Im considering different colours though. Im almost deff going to go with black but where can i find out what other colours are available and what looks good? I want to know things to check when purchasing etc. Any advice/comments greatly appreciated!

look in the gallery for different colours, however most are of black cars anyway lol.

check the renault uk website for a variety of colours. personally id buy privately if i had to buy another one, unless of cause you need a hire purchase agreement. (altho these can be arranged directly with companies such as black horse)

no idea what a dymanique plus is tho lol

Possibly a Dynamique + could have Climate control as I have a Dynamique and that doesn't, but that's just me guessing so I'm most probably wrong.....

i think i will probably go for black to be honest.. I love the red the 17/82 comes in. Will the aircon add a lot of weight? and suck some power? Im hoping to go for a 1.4 but my parents don't trust me..

having the air con on isnt that noticeable in my 1.2 to be honest.

i love flame red too, but sadly they never did it in the non-RS's which is why i need a respray

I have a 1.2 16v extreme - which is basically a dynamique with sports add ons like nice seats and stuff
Good value for money imo, to be in warranty you'd want an extreme 2 or later
Mine is the first xtreme so warranty period is just ending
also, I have air con in it, and works very well for me. The previous owners also have auto wipers and lights installed- which you might want to consider

your wrong. the extreme is a lower spec to the dynamique.. it doesn't have auto wipers, lights and a few other bits... So they would come in as standard. Probably get an 03 plate... meaning about a year left on warranty

The + has air con i think but it depends what model year as there tones of variation you can have dynamics with air con etc as you could have it as an option. The + have electric sunroofs though I think usually.
I like the black it does looks stunning when polised an washed but it looks dirty very quick but that minght be more down to me than the paiant. Black was the most connom colour realy though particualrly for the dynamic 1.2's.
Not much to watch out for realy there are some 1.2 problems but there usualy easy to fix. Just check for crash damage which might have been bodged.
The aircon doesn't seem to take much power and it shuts off when your giving it some (something like over 5k or 755 throttle I forget). Itr will add a few KG's but its not massive.
The thing to remember that different year means different spec the 52/2002 model Extreme had the same spec as the dyanmics but they had a CD player as standard. All dynamics will have the upgraded CD player though you'll be challenged to find one which doesn't. The head units and cd players can all be plugged in so if the car you want doesn't have it either get a discount or get them to swop from one car which does have it.
Have a look on autotrader though there are some bargin prices as they loose value very quickly. Don't worry about milage though they seem to get quicker with more milage and clucthes last over 100k whatever the driver.

A lot of extreme buyers had the whole lot put in when buying, as it was done fairly cheap. The modern extreme isnt lower spec at all.
But obviously I'm wrong, as you so clearly stated

how about real things to look out for, older mk2 clio's used to get leaks in the boot, check for it. a decent one wont have interior rattles. hold out for one as it WILL annoy you. and i do believe 53 plates had a bunch of dodgy batteries i think fred said it somewhere.

I had a choice between a Dynamique and a Billabong (pretty much an extreme) when I was buying in 2002. I couldn't get used to the interior on the billabong tho - too much bright green!
Anyway, I agree black looks great but it's by far the most popular colour so I got dark grey. Kind of like anthracite I guess. I'm chuffed to bits with it, hides dirt like no other colour and unlike a lot of other colours, it blends in nicely with the black plastic bumper strips so colour coding isn't necessary.

^^ I'll vouch that hologram grey is superb colour. Very rare in the MK2 ph2 clio. Matts is a mint example!!!

But obviously I'm wrong, as you so clearly stated

as you stated these were added as options... talk to your reanult dealer. the current extreme models come without rear headrests. A less attractive seat coverings (same seats) as theyre turquoise. No rear speakers and no auto wipers/lights even though i understand yours had them due to choosing them as an option. Just stating the Dynamique is the top spec stadard model (non sport)

Mines an 02 model authentique and even mine has cd player and speakers all round althoguh i did add the cd player as an option so i dunno if i got extra speakers fitted with that over normal spec but mines pretty much bottom of the range only thing i upgraded was to the 16v 1.2 and the cd player.

Was my 1st car and never intended to mod it at all. Although do plan to do some minor things with my next car. Mainly colour coding and adding the oem spoiler car just doesnt look right without it, its a C4 coupe my new car.

it depends what extreme it is, the extreme 2 was full dynamique spec with greeny coloured seats, the 3 had wheeltrims and not sure about inside and the extreme 4 is kinda half and half, my mum has one and it has 15" alloys, colourcoded, spoiler, cd player, sports front seats and a trip computer but it DOESNT have auto wipers, electric mirrors, rear speakers, sunroof, external temp guage.

the Dynamique+ has an electric sunroof.

black is the most common and in my opinion best looking colour, although ive noticed a couple in the same colour as the 172cup and if you can afford a newer dynamique or extreme 4 check out tempest blue thats what my mum has and its a really cool colour

The exteme has come in both low and high spec in the past. Just have a look to see what spec it is. Some cars when they were low spec people opted for the option extra to make them similar to dynamics.

I've got a 2001 1.2 16v dynamique+ and if you look on parkers you'll see that it apparently doesn't exist!
Never seen a 1.2 dynamique+ listed on any insurance sites either, even though it says dynamique+ on the glovebox.
Mines had climate control added as an option and pretty much everything else bar sat nav by whoever had it from new and i'm pretty sure thats why its a dynamique+.
