Buying a mk2 Clio

  Williams 2, 182 cup
Is there any guides or faults to check on the Mk2 Clio?

My girlfriend is looking to buy a V reg RSi and I wanted to make sure it's good.

Checking the details of a second-hand car is very much like making love to a beautiful woman. First of all, verify her year of origin. She may look like she rolled off the production line in 1990 but who's to say the fellow before you didn't give her a good spraying?

Window regulators, RSi's have electric windows; any slowness, gritty sounds or whining could tell you they are on the way out (not cheap)

Juddering brakes when slowing at low speed (when they shouldn't) is ABS activating, slightly alarming when it happens (not a big prob though and doesn't effect braking distance): ABS sensor rings have gone on drive shafts (can be replaced without changing the drive shafts)

Cambelt is 72k or 5 years (best to have it done before this)

You want a full servive history really, with plenty of other history and pref. the receipts for the work.

Check AC works and all the electrics work. Make sure you get both keys and have the locking wheel nut key.
