Buying Advice Appreciated

Hi all, I am looking at a Clio 182 from a local dealer. I love the car but I'm just wondering if it is an OK deal or not.

It is silver 2004 with 52,000 miles on the clock and 2 owners from new, all the usual 182 features. The cam belt/aux belt has not been changed but the dealer said he will do them both on sale along with an MOT. It has 6 months tax left and will give 3 month warranty for anything going wrong.

Wheels are a little scuffed on the front and tiny dent on passenger side door. Has full service history (apart from aforementioned cam belt)

It's an independent dealer and listed at £4,495 - which seems a little on the high side, but he wont budge at all on it.

Any advice or comments would be great.

Doesn't seem a bad price imo.

Does it have cup packs? Get a pic up if your not sure.

Maybe offer the dealer £4k and sort the belts yourself for piece of mind also.

  182 Ly ff.
I just paid £4750 for a 182 with 73k cambelt done psh and odd chips etc but it's a liquid gold 1. So go for more money as they r very rare. If you don't think it's a good deal look around there are plenty about.

That does seem a little on the high side for an 04 plate, below average miles though. I can't see why he is not budging on the price, are you paying cash or trading in another car. He may think as he is going to sort the belts out he wants the full price for it, play him at his own game, ask how much he wants without the belts changed, I paid £450.00 for both mine to be changed around 3 months ago so see how much he lowers the price.

Break him down on the price!!

Bit pricey then considering its the least desirable model.

You had a look through the cars for sale on here? Or anything else local on AT or Pistonheads?

I have no car to trade as my Corsa Sport went for scrap lol, I did ask him about price without belts change and he said £200-300 off.

Well I must admit the fact the place is only down the road is a big plus as I have no car at the moment, I have had a look on autotrader and seen quite similar ones for about the same money, but the cheaper/better ones seem all 80+ miles out. Maybe I'm just lazy. haha

Maybe get some quotes from the trader section on here or ring around a couple of places for cam belt & aux belt quotes and use them as negotiation...looking at least £400-£500 for someone who knows what they're doing.

Price sounds a bit on the high side to me...

Think you would get a better deal if you were prepared to travel and view a few! There are loads out there and it's a buyers market.
