Your warranty is not void from changing RAM or HDD yourself, I upgraded both on my 13" MBP and Apple said that is OK.

I've never been told that by anyone at Apple. They have always said "regarding RAM and drives" that if you cause a problem by taking it apart then you might not be covered, but if there's a problem with the screen or battery and you upgraded the RAM you'll be fine.
