Bye bye 182 Cup

  Alfa Romeo 145 QV
Well, ive finally sold my 05 182 Cup - for £6100!

I cant believe how little interest was shown, and i cant believe that £6100 was the best offer i recieved.

I was really sad to see it go.

Still, onwards and upwards eh? (well sort of - ill be using a Merc 190E automatic for the next few months :S ).

  Golf R soon...
Sad seeing a car go :(

What you getting next?

I traded my 05 plate 182 for £5725. No interest when I was advertising it privately.

I'm after a 182. But i can't really find one for love nor money round my area. Looks like i will have to branch out abit further!

An Inferno cup was always going to be hard to sell, people tend to want the FF with cup options in Black or blue.

Inferno is a very love it or haite it colour.

Ive just ordered an FTO from Japan, but it wont be here until mid August and i doubt it will be on the road until September atleast.

Im really tempted to buy a quite sad looking mk1 Golf thats listed on ebay at the moment, it would be an easy little project and ive always loved the mk1 Golf... its just finding the space to keep it!

This is why im not even bothering with selling the RS, ill still have it in 6 years time or untill every part on it has broke and it drags on the floor like a missis you've always wanted.
Im hoping in 3 years time ill have this kit car that ive got in the shed done with huge poweerrrr.... then ill look at making the clio more eco friendly an all that bollox.

Christ, that's not much for a car of that age

Was thinking of selling my 172 but realise now that it's not worth it, was offered £3800 trade in at a garage and it's mint with only 25k on the clock!

  2015 ST2(MO)/CorsaLE
very sad you sold it! think im going to keep mine for ever LOL...(as buying cars is a waste of time now) :( ive had my fun had 15 cars in 10 years! the 182 is a great car for the money imo!

I part ex'd my 04 182 october last year with 50K on the clock and a couple of scuffed alloys for £5900, that was at a Renault dealership. Thought it was bad at the time but maybe not?

I didnt really want to sell it, but i do about 30k per year now and i didnt want to render the car worthless.

Regardless of how healthy it is or how well it has been looked after, people are always suspicious of high mileage cars (in particular Clios).

I had people comment on the 'high mileage for the year' of my car....
...it was an 05 plate and had done only 34k miles! Crazy!

  Mondeo TXS Bardge.
34k for a 3 year old car is high going by the old average of 10k a year, but in small cars like clios people expect 8 k a year. when the average cars now is about 12k a year.
as said the colour has a lot to play a black one can be as much as £300 more valuable than say a silver one.
Its a bag time to be selling a big engined car wight now, high fuel prices and the prospect of £270 tax which'll have put most people off as well as the lack of spec with it being a cup with similar priced 182s, with the usual kit on them in the market, as every body seems to be offloading RS clios at the moment. its very much a buyers market.

182cups are probably the hardest RS to sell, no real benefit over a FF182 with cup packs.

The attraction for me was the cat being lighter and having less in the way of toys meant less to go wrong.

I was constantly in two minds about selling the car. I loved it and had an aftermarket warranty which lasted the length of the ownership of the car.

When experiencing problems with the car, it seemed that Renault would do anything to avoid honouring the warranty and couldnt complete any work on time. This sealed the fate of the Clio, and as soon as a half decent offer came in it had to go.

There was no point in piling loads of miles onto it, rendering it worthless while the dealer that sold me the warranty avoids repairing the car after it goes wrong!

Its a real shame as i loved the car and it was a constant joy to drive which offered everything a true hot hatch should, although i dont think Renault will see any return custom from myself!

I think the MRP for a 182 Cup was about £14.5k, although ive heard stories of people buying a 182 Cup for £10.5k brand new, just after the release of the replacement model.

I paid £10k for mine (from Renault) in November but it was an impulse purchase and i did little or no research first. I wish id have bought a Trophy, if only for the resale value.

Re-sale value and Renault arent two words i usualy use in a sentance:eek:

Theyre not too bad when comparing to Citroens, Alfas, etc.

The main reason for the low resale value is that there are large discounts to be had from the dealerships. A recent thread on here tells how some people had negotiated discounts of upto £4000 when buying new from Renault. Taking this into account, the depreciation isnt too bad!

Agreed.

The same 182 as mine, but with sat-nav - £16.5k new from Reno Bury.

I paid £12.2k new, from Lloyds CarSelect. And I picked it up from Reno Manchester.

I wouldnt say its because theres discounts to be had i just think its cause supply is by far out-stripping demand and the economy cant cope, and as the fuel price rises the desire for a "hot-hatch" is lets say lessened:eek:

  Alfa Romeo 145 QV
Thats true, although there will still be plenty of people who would rather pay the increased prices that sell their cars.

Supply and demand shouldnt be an issue with new cars, because (unless the car is of a limited production run) manufacturers will always supply you with whichever car you order... you can have what you want if you can pay for it.

what...

according to your calculations...the guys car would be over by only 4,ooo miles...:S

34K for an 05 car is not high...

I've just part ex'd my 38k 05 182...mazda offered me £5200, i just laughed at her. We then went on Autotrader and there were several 172's at £7k. She said yes a 2k mark up sounds about for trade, but then i stated that car she was looking at was still 2 years older than mine! Not a clue...

Then ford did a proper value, tyre gauge out etc, 2 tyres were at 2mm and offered me £6300. Ended up at £6500 for the deal :)

if you care to read the second half of that sentence i say on small cars they expect lower millage like 8k a year. 3x8k= 24k making it 10k over. in general the bigger the car the higher the mileage people accept.

^^ like your style! i hate dealers that wont talk a deal!!

At first they didn't seem to interested in a deal at all. I did go down with my dad at first, then went back for a test drive on my own. With him gone they maybe thought they'd get a better deal. I just played them by sayin 'o, id better go away and speak to my dad (knowing full well i could buy it there and then anyway). Worked quite well!

i got more off the car (pre reg 1.2 fiesta zetec), then got the £200 paint protection, then was about to leave and said i'd like another £200 somewhere and did!
