c000021a (Fatal System Error ) windows XP

Laptop has given up on life after 4 years of faitful service

Turned it on this morning and just before the log in screen showed it pops up a blue screen reading the above error, My brothers has got it to go on in safe mode but as soon as you try to activate safe mode with networking the error returns leaving me un-able to get into the email screen!

before any one asks, No it has'nt happend since spending the night on p**n


Any help would be great!

Have you got any Norton or Symantec crap installed on there? I'd uninstall it, if you have.

Have you got SP3 installed too or are you still running on SP2?

Installed the latest patches? (MS10-015), if you have then the above link should help.

Thanks for the in-put guys, gonna have a go playing with it now, think it may need to be sent away to some one who's a tad more handy at this than me, could end up making things worse lol
