CAF Pipe again! (sooooorrrrryy) ;)

I'm just about to order some of this stuff (a meter should be enough?) and am taking out my acoustic thingie. My only worry is when I connect the pipe upto my BMC it will flatten when sucking air in. I had a (albeit softer) air feed pipe a few years back...did a full day at oulton and later found that the pipe was totally collapsing when it really needed to get air to the engine and was probably something to do with the engine dying months later.

Is this pipe a decent strength or am I going to have the same prob?

Cheers

Ahh ok. I just ordered some from the same place, 70mm though. Should get it in the next couple of days. It says it has Stainless Steel Wire Spiral so it should be fine and not collapse :)

Really? I thought without the acoustic thing it would just drop striaght down? I`ll have to order two lots then..doh!

remove the fuel rail guard, go straight accross the front of the engine to the grille (there's a blanking plate that pulls off)

ahh right...is that a less direct route for the air to go along tho? Any pics fella...might end up doing that although I might just take the fog out and do it that way

I would have thought it would be pretty warm though with the Rad nearby.

I would have thought dropping it down to the position of the original feed/acoustic valve would be more than ample....plenty of cool air down there.

I'm in the same situation! Ordered a new front lower grille and airbox off ebay to have a fiddle around.... I get bored easily!

Can you still pipe down to the lower grille even if the acoustic is connected? was thinking of drilling a 65-75mm hole into my airbox off ebay to pipe direct into it, then leave the acoustic valve connected as it is?

No chance, there is no room to put a new CAF unless you remove the acoustic valve and position it like I did :)

Right o...I`ll order 2 mtrs and have a play. The difference a bit of cold air made on the rollers was amazing so I want to sort it out. Gaz said the same of the nana. Much better with the cold air (obviously lol)

I didn't have to take my acoustic valve out. The cold air feed comes out of the viper and goes directly down. I pulled the bit of plastic off behind the lower grill so I could cable tie the end of the cold air feed to the grill next to the hole for the tow bar. The feed was pretty strong I had to snip the wire at the end with wire cutters so I could attach it to the viper with the jubilee clip. Feels more responsive, but I think that was all in my head.
