Calling all LCD TV guru's

  BMW E46 330i Touring
I've shortlisted my LCD TV purchase to the following models, all highly rated by What Plasma & LCD TV magazine, so I'm sure I'll be happy with whatever I choose, but has anyone had any experience with any of the following models?

Viewsonic N3760W

Toshiba 32WLT66

Sharp LC-32GA8E (not reviewed by WP&LCDTV)

Sharp LC-37P50E ("-------"----------"-------)

Samsung LE32R41BD

Samsung LE32R74BDX

Anyone got any reviews or opinions in the above? :)

Hi mate, I believe Sharp LC-32GA8E is my one, the Sharp Aquos..... it's excellent, although not great on standard signals like NTL etc. I think this might be the same with LCD's in general though, looks mint on DVD's

I'm not majorly up on tv's etc, so if you've got a question feel free to give me a shout

I have the Sharp Aquos and the picture quality is great :) HD broadcasts and Xbox 360 are amazing on it.

I`ve been looking at a few and found on pricerunner a Samsung 40" LCD for £1159 delivered...was going to get a 37" but this is about £20 more so it`s a no brainer for me really...

I haven't got a review to see what the 'experts' say wth regards to Sharp's analogue quality guys, but it could be the case of being better with digital signals.

My budget is really £900 tops, so have only included a couple of cheaper 37" LCD's, will most likely go for a 32" to ensure I get better quality. The Viewsonic's reviews has surprised me though, obviously a budget LCD, but it seems to be a pretty good one.

acrebo the tosh is fantastic for the money less than 800 !! my friend has one and im very close to buying one spent many hours infront of it setting it up and mighty impressed with it.

all sd tv looks erm a bit pants if you are too close bbc is good 99% of the time tho itv is only good if you watch it with your eyes closed !!!!!! especially aparantly with football (i cant really comment i hate football!)

It seems great on standard transmissions, football has had a tendancy to smear on all lcd's I've viewed. Having said that I've been watching the BBC & ITV HD broadcasts for the World Cup and they look far better and are minus the smearing problem.

From the reviews I've read, either of the 37"... The new generation of Samsungs are attracting a lot of praise, but the Toshiba is generally a good all-rounder but not amazing sound quality.

Edit: Just realised that the 40" is also part of the 'next gen' Samsungs, so I'm not sure why it's cheaper... I'll investigate!

It seems to be a bargain, although the prices pricerunner are quoting have increased... you're looking around £1,200+ for it now.

So 2 votes each for the Toshiba and Sharp... think I'm leaning towards the WLT66... although I'm not discounting the Samsung options.

as in 5000:1 is better than 1200:1? What extra features does the Tosh have over the Samsung to make it better by so much?

I don't know if the Tosh is "so much better" but you have to take everything into context.. The Samsung may have a better contrast ratio (partly exagerated by their Dynamic picture processing) but the Tosh is regarded as have a better all round picture and twin HDMI inputs.

The contrast ratio is the difference between pure white and pure black, so a high ratio gives more shades and avoids 'greyness'...

TBH, all these TV's will offer much the same in performance, with small details only noticable if you really look for them. At the end of the day I want a fairly decent size LCD TV with good picture quality, good sound quality, strong colours and HD ready... I think all the options being discussed here tick all the boxes.

To be honest Chris my cousin has the Samsung LE32R74BDX (built in freeview/EPG is excellent btw) and I can't fault it at all. It's just the better reviews and extra HDMI input (1 * SKY HD, 1 * HD-DVD or Blueray) so you don't have to keep swapping in the future that's swaying me towards the Tosh.

2 hdmi for a start ;)

dont listen to their contrast ratio calims in reality there wont be much bnetween then and most companies make them up :)

read on avforum about the 2 sets good place to get info on them

the 37wlt66 has issues with off axis viewing apparantly but the 32 doesnt

but to be totally honest there is naff all between any of them pic quality wise mainly just faults

the sound on the tosh is ok you can get a sub that mounts on the back of it but imho you wont get the best sound from a speaker on a lcd tv

+ i have actually used a tosh in a real living room and it does look fab even when just using sky and regular dvd's not upscaled you just have to rememeber you cant sit 2 ft away and expect it to look great no lcd will

I've got LE32R51BD and the LE32R74BD - both fantastic I'd defo go for the LE32R74BD looks the buisness! very nice finish on it. yeah it only has 1 HDMI but I've got the Sony HTSS1000 AV reciever which has 2 HDMI in 1 HDMI out so its not a problem for me.
