cam shafts for 2002 clio 1.4 16v

hi to all.

i am having a big headache with trying to find a set of after market performance cams for my engine as i have just spent the last month rebuilding it after i down shifted to low blowing the engine up.

a good part of the engine survived, but unfortunately the head was destroyed. i have now sourced a new head, port polished it, and valve lapped, brought a new exhaust system from engine to rear of car aswell.

now does anyone know where to get a cam set for my engine??? because i am having no look. i have checked countless sites but still nothing.

please help!!!

i have checked that site before and all i can find is cams for the 1.4 8v engine. only problem is that i have a 16v model.

i may have another idea but dont knw if would work. could i possibly transplant a 1.6 head onto the engine or is the block a different size??

catcams list them for the k4M engine (1.6) but they'll fit i would imagine

does the 1.4 have VVT? i don't think it does

not sure but i cant see anything on the engine or manual saying VVT.

k4j and k4m head is the same so k4m listed cams will fit, just take care with valve/piston clearance as that might be different. Catcams list K4m cams

Just transplant an F4R in??? Very little point gagging with cams and stuff. You'll spend more money than you would buying a 1*2 engine

i think and F4R engine is a little out of my reach at the moment as my insurance is already £4000 with the modifications i have done.

special thanks to ' sideways danny' i will try and see what i can do with the k4M performance cams in my K4J. hopefully all goes to plan, i will be driving around in it next weekend.

i wish. all iv done is changed the rims to 17's low profile, lowered it 4". full system performance exhaust, Renault sport body kit transfer. quick shift, uprated speakers all round, and lots of other things.

the car was £3200 to insurance standard because of my age.

but got a deal on the insurance for £4k as long as i didnt do any more mods that i had listed.

As i am 18 and paying 1.4k fully comp with admiral for the 1.6 16v mk2 phase 1!

I think you need to run a few more quotes my friend i would be being sick everytime i woke up if i was paying out 400 a month on insurance!

However if you can afford to do that fair play to you

i have always thought how people driving the same car have cheaper deals, i always thought it was something to do with my age.

i work at british aero space as an electrician so money is'nt such a big problem but it would be great if i could save money, so when it comes for an ugrade to a proper 172 cup/ trophy , i can pay it off straight away.

i mostly let my dads m8 get my insurance so i dnt really knw how many people he phoned for what i have as a result of him doing it.

is your car standard m8 or have you moddified it????.
it might help on the basis of how i can consider on how to deal with it.

HUH!!!???!?!?!?!

i'd be surprised if you couldn't at least half what you're paying, you need to call insurers that specialise in modified cars once you have modifications.

Yeah when i was 17 i was paying 2k on my 1.6 16v! So you really can mate

Try admiral or just confused.com in general? it seems admiral and elephant (same company) give good deals to young drivers and sounds like you need it!

I mean i work as a PHP programmer so i can earn my self enough but i would still be crying inside at 4k, have a go at quoting your self you will see a huge difference!

Well look at 18 i can insure a 172 for 2800 so if your willing to pay prices like that then just wait for a years no claims and 18 and you will be well away
