Cambelt, Aux and Dephaser 172 cups price

Car  172 Cup
I've just rang up a specialist (ktec) for all of this to be fitted and I was told a price of about £550 for the lot, I would have thought it would have been a little cheaper due to being a cup or is that a decent price espicially as there a specialist?

We're coming in at £491.35 for the same job using genuine parts:

Timing belt kit (with end caps)
Aux Belt
Oil Filter
Elf SXR Oil
Camshaft fixings & oil seals
Crank pulley bolt
Dephaser pulley

Mick

I paid £450 @ Birchdown but they didn't do the oil change (which I did myself as bad oil was the reason for the knackered dephaser!) so MicKPM's price is pretty much identical. BTM quoted a very similar price too.

You won't get much cheaper than these guys - for a proper job. Dephaser part is around £170 now!

Cups are simples and I could probebrly get it down to the £450 mark with some strategic discounting. We normally charge £300 for a Cup timing belt and then the dephaser and other bits bump another £200ish to the job so from £500 to £450... not a massive discount but its £50 better off in your pocket than someone elses ;)

Shame the fuel costs would eat that up with ease so there's no chance he'd come to us for that (unless he really wanted to see the doggin spot over the way from my workshop)

Mick

As you said shame your not a little closer.... I'm going to try rentech in Poole now and get a price of them thanks guys :)

I had my 182 dephaser , cambelt , aux belt done by mick yesterday , can't fault his work and at a great price aswell , very friendly and gave me some good advice . Top Bloke :) He even took me to the train station ha .

unfortunately he informed me i had missed the best time for the doggin spot so i was a little bit gutted lol

Right soo just given rentech Poole a ring, they said the cambelt kit(£120) aux(£12) and then 4 hours fitting at £37 an hour and the Dephaser £140 does this seem to be a fair price or is there anything missing? There not linked to rentech in plymouth by the way thanks

£420 for a garage I've never heard of vs £450 for Danny/Mick who are known for their quality of work.

I know where my money would go.

I would love to get it done by Mick or Danny but 5 and half hours + drive would be difficult with having work ect need someone a little closer

Is that for a cup with no aircon? If it is then how much in total with aircon?

That's correct, a cup without A/C

I'm just updating my prices now and they'll be posted later next week so DON'T take this as an actual quote AS IT IS LIKELY TO CHANGE SLIGHTLY but a FF 172/182 with dephaser pulley using genuine parts and ELF SXR oil from Diamond Motors is looking at being around £640 (Retail) and discounted for CSnet/MSnet/197net/CTnet/WC/C16v club members to £540 (20% off labour, 10% off parts).

Kinda makes the membership fee's worth it ;)

that'll be plus VAT. Seems fair, you should do an oil change too

Great discount that Mick:cheers:does make being a member all the more worth it..

does the dephaser pulley need changing when you have the belts done?? or is one of them things that only need replacing if buggered so to speak??

Just to let you know Rentech Repairs is nothing to do with me .
Anyway if you was to pm the original Rentech in Portsmouth I would be coming back with a price of £450 all inclusive.
I take it's a Clio Cup without AC otherwise its a fair bit more expensive.
