Cams or bodies

Right guys

Current spec of car is..

Bilstein B14 coilovers, camber bolts, OMP roll cage with custom rear harness bars, pure motorsport top mounts and strut brace combo
K-Tec stealth exhaust and de-cat. RS Tuner 182 software and remap. Speedline 2118 palmersport wheels

I'm swapping my recaros for some Bimarco Futuras next week

The car is just a weekend toy and track car. I want to keep it road legal for summer but it isn't my daily drive

It's coming off road after Anglesey this week to have a bit of a winter refresh

Now I have a dilemma. It's done 126k but pulls like a steam train and seems very healthy. But it needs a cambelt swap
After loads of hunting around I was going to take it to K-Tec for their camshafts fitting at same time as cambelt and pulleys

But I've read a few more threads recently and I'm strongly being pulled towards bodies instead

I've now been offered some Jenveys and an Omex at a bargain price and I'm seriously considering selling a load of my camera gear and snapping them up. But what's the best choice between stand-alone and bodies or cams and a remap on standard ecu?

I don't really want to spend more than £2k on the engine over winter so can't do cams AND bodies..
Whats peoples thoughts?

I'm tempted by the bodies purely for the noise as I'm doing a euro trip in August around stelvio pass and monaco etc... lol

From the ECU point of view I'd prefer DTA/Omex or the standard renault one as a really good mate of mine runs a motorsport company just over the road from my house and he's one of the best mappers I've ever met

So I'd want to keep it with a setup where I can nip over there for tweaks :D

Also are the belt changes expensive on the cups considering there is no air con to muck about with?

  KTM 990 SD / S60 D5
Itbs are nice but so expensive for the gains they offer,Ktecs cams will give you similar gains at less than half the price of itbs.

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
Bodies first, cams at same time or later. Cams that run well with stock inlet are compromised a fair amount, different cams work well with bodies

  Golf GTD Mk7
Bodies, definitely. Or both ;)I've got an omex going if it falls through.

Skinting yourself for an ec1 mate ;)

Personally having cams, I'd go for bodies. Love my 421s, but i got them cheap. The change to cable throttle will make a noticeable difference in terms of feel too.

Doms - the bodies I've been offered are only £300 more than the cams!

Cheers 519 - that's what I was thinking. If I get stand-alone management and bodies first - I can go much wilder with the cams at a later date

  SG9 Forester STi
Both! :)

That way you don't have to spend extra on getting another custom map when you choose to do the second mod.
