can airbag ecu's be swapped

hi I've got an occasional airbag/serv light up on my 2002 172 I've read the fault codes using our bosch kts 500 system at work and its saying the problem is the airbag ecu.

I've got one of here and swapped it over but the lights were permanently on re read the codes and its saying unknown configuration.

is it because the ecu I've got is from a cup so has less airbags?

is there anyway to wipe them?

The renault clip software will wipe them i think
