Can someone explain this to me? (Pricing)

This car used to belong to my girlfriend's dad, although he traded it in for a new Scenic last October. I think they gave him around £4500 for it, however looking at the price now how on earth can they justify that cost?
It's standard apart from a remap at K-Tek last summer, which isn't mentioned in the ad.

Any reason for the cost? Or just a rip-off dealer?

Warranty, freebies, finance deals etc...

Dealers offer a lot more than some bloke based in Rotherham with his pride and joy, but faces reluctant sale cus his missus is pregnant.

Really?

Warranty - Most approved used will stick a year warranty on the car
Freebies - Mats/Accessories/Sort Bodywork/Servicing like a cambelt etc will be done hopefully
Finance - They offer a range of finance, often at competitive apr's

It was mainly the Freebies and Finance I was interested in knowing a bit more about, Warranty I would have assumed to be 1 year. Thanks for info :)

Its a main dealer. Their overheads are MASSIVE. I own a tiny little used car pitch and I need to earn £11,000 a month just to break even.

A main dealer will need to be earning in excess of £100,000 a month to cover their overheads. Thats why they are more expensive.

And because they are expensive, they like to offer peace of mind. So say you buy a car and aren't happy, you'll get it booked into the service department and probably get a courtesy car. And the car will be repaired under the garages warranty. You will get none of that on a used car pitch.

Well normally when you buy a used car from a car dealer, you get a warranty with it. To offset the cost of warranty work that is inevitabley undertaken, the cost of all the cars they sell, has to cover that margin. Freebies are often chucked in like a tank of petrol, or car mats just to sweeten the deal, but they are paid for subtley.

Basically, what the Bristolian said ^

Ah ok, appreciate the info chaps. Would like to buy that one as I know it's history, just not sure I can justify the cost. And I'm not really in a position to buy just yet...
