Can you remove the silver centre bit on a 172?

think its just the full lower dash mate. i pm'd ph-reebone about this and thats what i got in reply. one of my air vents are snapped too so it would be handy if that bit did just pop out !

IIRC its plastic welded in so you could get it out with a soldering iron and a knife attatchment for it.

Ahh buggers, well the air vents are broken/missing on mine and so i was wondering if its easier to get the whole bit. Or just try get the vents in...

I think the vents come out seperately. I remember pulling mine out, one came out fine but i broke the other one slightly.
