Car all fixed up after crash

After what happened a few weeks ago:
http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=119459

I finally got my car back from Evans Halshaw Vauxhall in Edinburgh (Insurer's recommended repairer) on Tuesday after a week of driving around in a 1.0 12v Corsa.

The garage did a good job, pretty pleased although when I went in to collect it I spotted the front splitter hadn't been fitted but they fitted it while I waited.

They fitted a new front bumper, wing and headlight and I think they have even sorted out my stone chips on the bonnet at no extra cost because I can't really see any now! They also fitted a new numberplate at the front so had to pay £10 to get the rear one changed (as they would have been showing different garage names at the bottom and I need to have consistency lol). The clutch felt so heavy compared to the Corsa when I drove it home!

The lawyers acting on behalf of my insurance wrote to me today to say that as yet they have still been unable to speak to the third party as he hasn't contacted them. Looks like I won't be seeing my excess back anytime soon......

Don't mean to be the voice of gloom.

But my dealings with Elephant and their contact to the 3rd party and witnesses were nothing short of awful

It took them 3 months to get details form the police and about 6 months to settle the claim. The claim was steeled 50:50 even though there was witnesses.

They took so long to write to the witnesses in the first place that the witness ignored them. No wonder when they send out forms in envelops that look like junk mail.

I was informed that the statement given to the police by the witnesses was confidential and could not be supplied to the insurance company.

Was told the insurance company would not call or visit the witness as they had already written to them twice and if they did any more it could be harassment.

So in the end after months of fa**ying about they decided as it was my word against the other drivers they would settle 50:50.

Keep on their back. I was way to trusting and left them to it.

P.S. they also told me several times that the claim would be settled in my favour so don’t buy that either

P.P.S Just like in your other thread Elephant were very helpful and kind and the car was booked in and repaired promptly. But don't buy their B**ls**t about sorting your claim out! Keep on their backs.

I am still with Elephant as they managed to f**k up even more and leave me with my no claims bonus in tact and they said as it was their fault I could keep it so they are by far the cheepest!! Still had to pay the £400 excess for someone hitting me though.

disco thanks for the advice mate - sounds like they really fucked up with your claim.

The girlfriend had a passenger in my car but we can't use him as a witness because he wasn't outside the vehicle which is pretty crap. I'm beginning to think more and more each day that it could come to a 50-50 claim even tho it was totally the other driver's fault. I am ready for a battle and will be phoning them tomorrow to see what the updated situation is. Need to send them a photocopy of the excess receipt I paid the garage as well.

Cheers Jonny - not so good about the rust mate but if you are catching it early then it should be fine. I can pm you my cousin's number if you want. He has a paint company called Bodyworx and did the colour coding on EvilJohn's car. He's based in Broxburn now and has better facilities and equipment.
