car cut out

Last night started my car up,everything running smooth, then all of a sudden it cut out.

why would this of happened its never happened before.

do you have any ICE installed and were running it without the engine running? my engine does this when the batterys going flat.

only a cd player and 6x9 no ice was running at the time

Or is it keeping on doing it?



Its a common problem on these lil 1.2 16v engines.

Its either the start of your coil pack on its way out.
The ECU software needs updating by renault
Or you have had water ingress into some of the wiring in the engine bay.


They have a habit of cutting out when u dont want them too !!
Just as u approach a red light (ie slowing down to a stop)

it will just die !!!

this is the first time its happned, how much will this cost to do as i thik my car has just run out of warrenty.

although i did take out an extra years warrenty with the people i brought the car off so will they cover this for free

I was £60 for a new coil pack when mine went.

what mine was doing was... when it was idling every second or 2 seconds the revs would drop to about 500rpm (like a miss fire) then jump back up. And occasionally it would cut out at roundabouts or traffic lights.

mine had only been in for a service the day before and it was fine before it went in for that so I took it back in and they fitted the coil pack for free but I still had to buy it for £60 BUT it didn’t fix the problem then about a week later it just stopped and never done it again!

Make sure u have a proper service done so everything is nice an fresh

i dont believe in paying renault prices for a service tho.
