Car failed MOT miserably :( Advice / help needed

Ok, put the car in for its MOT today, failed miserably.

I cant recall exactly what she said was wrong (not feeling great and was at work)

Rear Number Plate light - no biggie

Something else, I cant recall but thats not bad £190 - No problem with that.

The worst, and probably the main reason I dont care about the £190 part.....

£1095 for a 'lever' (?) as my Xenons are sitting too low.

Does this ring a bell to anyone, and why so frigging much!

I seriously dont want to have to fork that out and I wish I was in a position to write what she said down, but this is the most I can do until tomorrow.

Any help / input greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I plan to go there, 9 AM sharp and get the failed MOT certificate.

I told them in no uncertain terms they are not to carry out any of the work involved on the headlight/xenon.

MOT is up tomorrow, and I cant leave it there for days on end.

Ill need to find out the problem, book it in for Wednesday at another test centre that might use lube.

Obviously, come Wednesday I can only drive to a pre-booked MOT Test

I know it probably seems daft asking with such vague information but I need to try and gather some info on it asap.

Xenon levels are taken from a reading off the rear beam. They're probably aiming to bill you for a new rear beam. LOL.

can they not just ajust the light with the allen key on the back or are they trying to fob u off saying that the level asjuster on the axle is fooked?

I've sent you an SMS.

Really appreciate you doing ths Fred.

Would it matter that my car was lowered (not the garage trying to butt fuk me) but the height.

Be cheaper to chuck some standard headlights on it than pay that price.

Also, why does everyone get their MOT done at the last minuite, then struggle to get it all fixed before it runs out?

Not a dig, just an observation hear/see this alot at work.

I had to wait for a new bonnet with washer jets (bought a Carbon one - it was defective so I wasnt chucking money into something I was replacing anyway)

Once I got that fitted, I booked the MOT.

I normally utilise the "13th month" but I couldnt this time.

A member on here, wayneclio16v.

He's a mechanic - I wouldnt know where to start with arm being attached to rear beam.

I put it in at 10am and was at work 12-10 so its not like I could see what they were talking about

Sorry to bother you Oggy with a totally off topic question but how do you know what number your Monaco is out of the 468 registered?? I asked someone before but never got an answer??

Heh, that was an old thing where the board tried to see how many Monaco were on the site.

I'd love to see the fail sheet - name and shame the mot center!

Got there, they managed to adjust headlamps without replacing the part.

Other was N/S/F Tie /rod & Ball joint.

Ill upload failed MOT certificate when I pick the car up (hopefully soon, a 57 Plate Ka is killing me)

Would have loved to have seen their faces if I actually had tp phone Fred.

Not too bad then, Ill think twice about using them again though.

Thanks for all your replies.

If you park on a flat surface and turn your headlights on do they are shining on a wall or garage door or something, you will see if they are low or not. Its kinda obvious once you have done it...should be at roughly the same level as the bonnet I believe (when abotu 1Metre away from the object your shining onto)
