Car Insurance issue due to a Scorpion SS exhaust

i recently bought a Clio 182, assumed it was standard and got insured through M&S car insurance for £300 fully comp. After owning the car for a few days i noticed the cars exhaust was a Scorpion cat back stainless system, so rang my insurance to update the policy details, only to be told that the premium would now rise to £1300 !!!!! I was asked if it was a full system and told them it was only a cat back exhaust. im amazed and annoyed that such a 'modification' can cost so much. So ive had to cancel the policy and have gone with Zeneth who accepted the Stainless exhaust without any issues and now pay £440 fully comp.
Has any body else had this issue ?

Yep, need to go to a specialist.

Greenlight / Sky Insurance etc will be a good shout.

It's basically just them shafting you, because they think they can - easy way to make money if you are stuck mid-term in a policy and don't check for a quote first before adding a modification ^^

We dont charge for mods like exhaust, induction kit, suspension etc under our modified vehicle schemes so if you go with us you wont have this situation again if you decide to add more mods mid year.

Yeah encountered that issue although not with such a jump....I would of been tempted to stay at £300 and go back to standard exhaust
