Just wondering if anyone can recommend anywhere, cheapest i can find at the moment on a 2000 Plate 172 is:

£518 Fully Comp with a £250 Excess (+ protected NC) with Sainsburys

Age: 26
NCB: 5 Years
No Points or Claims ... seems a lil high though... thoughts?

I wouldnt normally question it as £500 ish aint too bad i guess, im just a little confused as to how its cheaper to insure my old Subaru (£432 Fully Comp) than it is for a Clio lol

I'm with Direct Line currently, they seem pretty good to be honest. Although I've had a new insurer most years as someone else could always seem to beat the renewal I was given.

+1 to Tesco though. More Than too.

Admiral are good for me but I'm old... but to be honest you just need to shop around, try the comparison sites. Insurance is so varied based on you and your post code etc.

Yeah i have tried all the comparison sites etc seems the cheapest i can get it is as stated above with Sainsburys is: £518 but i think Admiral etc opt out of sites like Confused.com etc - just getting a quote of them as i type =) *fingers crossed*

Yeah it's a funny old game insurance, one company is never the lowest for everyone. Sounds, unfortunately, like 518's your best bet, unless you can tweak the cover slightly and lower it (protected NCB, increasing excess?)

Yeah if i take off the PNC it drops to about £468 so its probably about right tbh just me being a tight fisted git hahaha i only questioned it because i found it weird that i could insure my Subaru WRX for cheaper (with the NC protection) i think i'll give up and accept the fact now though hahah

For your comparisons comparethemarket.com, gocompare.com, themoneysupermarket.com too. Different insurers will have different rates with each of these companies.

Try going directly to Sainsbury's too rather than through a comparison site, it sometimes takes a small amount off the quote.

I tried going direct to Sainsburys and it was higher! lol but like you said i suppose there is a slight discount for the fact im going through a comparison site possibly ?

Have been with Bell for 3 years, apart from their crap phone answering from 5-7pm I can't fault them.

Managed to get all the extras from Admirals cover to my basic flexibell cover for free too when I threatened to leave. Cheap too, my 1.4 si with alloys, 3 points for using a phone and 2 ncb- £628 (Im 25)

Depending on your circumstances I found in the past that adding my mum as an occaisional driver also lowered my premium 50 quid or so.

I don't think that's too bad a quote tbh . Considering your in Warrington which i understand is one of the higher risk postcodes .

Personally i steer clear of the comparison websites more often than not as they throw up some outrageous quotes . I prefer to phone the insurance companies direct wherever possible .

Flux is always the best for me and guarantees to beat any other quote . As said though , car insurance is a very personal thing .

Well this morning i bit the bullett! paid more than the £518 though, eventually decided to go with "Virgin" as i wanted to put my GF on my insurance with me as she will drive my car alot too, she has 3 points and 1 accident to declare etc but still... fully comp with protected no claims & legal cover etc etc with a £250 excess cost me....

*drum roll*

£799 not too bad i dont think all in all...
