Car Wont Start

Nothing works, no horn, lights or sterio, it doesnt even try to start, it suggests to me battery is completely dead?

yep thats or no earth at all , try jump leeds if that works it`ll either be yer batt thats gone, but it could be the alternator that hasnt been charging it

^^^^^^^^^ yeah get a DMM and check the alternator volts

ok my mates coming down with a booster pack at 6 see if i can start the car again, if it works the battery is going straight back as it has a 3 year no maintenace warranty on it.

could be that something was left on, or theres an electrical fault, thats no fault of the battery!

nothing was left on thats the first thing i checkedi dunno much about electrical faults

1.well replaced the battery, now works until i try to turn the engine over and it tries to but it doesnt actually start the engine. and the battery light stays on, on the dash. i tried my mates car to jump start it and nearly fried his battery (well it melted the plastic around the jump leads anyway) man at the garage i rang up said possible dead short in the starter motor.


2.after i disconnect the - cable and re install it is it usual for a spark?

engine may be flooded and plugs wet dry them out

you may have a bad earth check the strap and earth on battery

check the starter plug small one

how do i take out the plugs, do i need a special tool?

i checked the starter motor leads seem to be ok and battery cable has been replaced.

once the cars running get a multi meter and check the alternator as said above.. replacing its an expensive way to test it and if its your alterator you'll be back out spending another ton ontop

well found out the problem, lol it was one of the 30A fuses in the auxillary fuse box under the bonnet. i swear i check all of them. i have changed it and i get a spark on the negative terminal of the battery everytime i reconnect the earth lead to it, is this normal???
