Car won't start

Hi guys,
Wonder if anyone can help.

The 172 has been sat on stands for 3 weeks started fine last week then I went to start it again today and nothing. Tried to get it jumped from a neighbour and if I turned the key straight away it would crank but then nothing. I then turned ignition on, let the dash settle and nothing at all. It will only crank (but not start) if I turn on and crank straight away. It's almost as if the immobiliser is kicking in. Any ideas? Do these keys need to relearn themselves?

Immobiliser was solid. Turned on the ignition, let it clear for 30 secs to a min, got out locked, unlocked, put key in ignition let lights on the dash settle then cranked over and started fine.
