Take it off mate, blank the pipe off, and fit a 23ohm resistor to the wires, job done....

If these is a sensor/component this would have resistance so you are effectively shorting it out if you solder the wires together. Could either cause an error or catch fire. The resistor mocks the load of the component you are removing.

So how do I for one? Thanks

I got mine from maplins, but if u are unsure a local auto Elec should be able to sort the job quickly, as said above the circuit needs resistance in order to function properly.

Theres a solenoid valve that opens and closes letting fuel vapour from the tank go through the carbon filter and into the intake, thats the clicking noise... the valve part just pulls out the top of the canister, i went through a big puddle and it got knocked off and filled with water so i just unplugged the sensor, hasnt given me any problems or any lights, just taped up the plug to the rest of the loom...

Shove it in the hole....that's what she said. Lol
It is as simple as that. The one I did on my steering wheel for the air bag I put a bit of heat shrink around the connection and resistor to keep it tidy and secure

Look on maplins website for a 23ohm type, but it needs to be the big rectangular type as the small ball types get too hot.... Like this.....

Hi. Would appreciate some advise from you guys. My fuel canister felt off and was rubbing against the road. Causing a hole and majority of the active charcoal are gone.

I manage to patch back the canister with some tape to find out that the canister leaks fuel after every topping up of fuel.

A new fuel canister is expensive. Is there a way to bypass the canister?

Thanks in advance.

Anyone can advise?

I have ditched mine for my tack car.
Firstly, there is a pipe which goes all the way back to the fuel tank. I have cut this near the tank, and put a valve on it (so it can still vent). I have this:

Then for the wiring, there's a resistor you need to put in the connector. Aroud 22-23Ohm. I've got this one to fit:

Thanks mate. Thats good info.

But how about the intake side? Do i remove the canister completely? My canister has a punctured hole.

If i put the breather on the fuel tank side. Will fuel leak from there? I notice there is fuel leaking out of my punctured canister now.

Yeah, I've removed mine completely, and no, you shouldn't get any fuel leak. The breather has a one-way valve (inwards).
I've then removed the pipe from the inlet breather, and replaced it with a silicone end cap (12mm) and a jubilee clip.

This is the best Guide so far for removal of the carbon Canister... my only question is... what size does the nipple on the vent cap need to be?

Thanks

No idea I'm afraid. I got that particular vent though, and it slides into the pipe fine. I put a cable tie round it just to keep it secure.

Also, I have since been advised to change the resistor, for a heatsink type. Picked mine up from RS components.

What did you use to fix it to the plug? Spade connectors and some wiring ?

Don't suppose you have a picture of how you've connected this up? I'm no mastermind and the usual small resistors I can figure out but what's the best way to connect this to the plug?

Hello mate, unfortunately I don't! Alex W wired it inline for me when he did my cut-down loom for me.

The car was broken back in 2018 too.

Just leave the lid attached and block the vents.
