Cat- removal

Hi im looking at getting a powerflow exhaust for my clio 16valver, there is an option of using my decat pipe.Has anyone relised any problems with doing this.Also what gains will i be expecting with or without the cat.

Also i spoke to a lady at longlife exhausts she came to the conclusion that i would be getting gains of 15bhp with a custom made exhaust with a de cat!

I personaly thing that i would be getting about 10 bhp without the cat.

well thats what i thought i think im going to get about 8-10 bhp,

You'll get about 5bhp at peak out of the exhaust and de-cat, and a similar increase in torque.

Best mod you can do is the de-cat. I had mine rr'd before and after fitting, and even though peak gains were only small, the peak power and torque came some 300rpm lower, therefore giving quite an increase throughout the rev range.

Also, if your car is M reg or earlier, it should pass the MOT without the cat too.

Mine is an Nreg, what exhaust have you got?

K-Tec system with de-cat.

N reg onwards have a stricter emmisions test on the MOT so keep your cat handy lol.

Be prepared for a large Noise Increase without the CAT in!
I have a powerflow + De-cat,im not over impressed with the quality,but it varys from dealer to dealer. I paid 250 quid for mine.

I have a decat and supersprint on my Valver, did it last week and not that loud at all. Quite nice but when you put your foot down, it picks up better and sounds nice!!!!!

Make sure you back box comes off near the centre section as its a total a*se to get it over the axle and connected to the centre section otherwise! That's of course, if your having it fitted by someone else!!!!

nice one sounds good , i think i will be looking at around 360 for the system. powerflow can make any sound from the exhaust so im going for quiet one. not some bloody v 8 wannabe lol

Got the decat from ktec for around 50 and full system for 280 from ktec, though very loud!!

Youll find more of a difference in the decat though. Not sure what power gains I got from both, at most 8-10bhp

Got a Full Magnex system with de-cat on my valver, had to put the cat back on for the mot though! You definately do notice the difference with the de-cat pipe. My Magnex sounds sweet and not overly load too. Make sure that you use some exhaust gum on the joints though other wise you tend to loose a bit of performance:approve:
