Just been told my new one has arrived at home, its got no gaskets with it, i take it the old ones (if there are old ones) will be alright to use? i plan on modifying the old one so it becomes a straight thru disguised de-cat pipe.

its on a 1993 ph1 mk1 RT 1.4

i would do but cant find anywhere that sells just the gasket, reno prolly do for a nice price, i could hardly afford the cat, had to stick it on parents credit card until i got cash, its only on there until saturday, to pass MOT, then its being re-sealed and stored away till next year

anyone able to get a price of the gaskets??

The old ones are usually alright to use for the short term, but make sure you get new ones or youll be messing about with exhaust paste trying to stop it leaking.

Probably best to wait til youve got new ones beofre you fit it.

I learn from my mistakes :)

ahhh yea cheers dazz, totally forgot about that place, ill try em first but theyll prolly want to order em in knowing them.

I plan on ripping the old one to bits, and making it a stealth de-cat, or getting one of the chaps in the machine shop at work to put a pipe in, ive not actually looked at how a cat is made yet so ill find out 2moro.

so u bought a new cat to put on at mot time, and with the old one u are gonna make a stealth de-cat??

why not just make a simple, albeit non stealth, de-cat??

  500bhp Scoob

because i could end up saving money by not having to even buy a de-cat pipe, plus it all looks legit underneath, i might aswell put some use to the scrapped cat, i got sod all better to do until friday :)

yea it failed emissions, its 11/12 years old thou, test said it should be under 0.3% on CO emissions, it was 1.7-1.8%
