CG locks and the alternative.

  Trophy #473
Reading a thread on here regarding those CG locks that attach to your seat belt to hold you in your seat more, one person mentioned a free alternative and I tryed it yesterday.

The guy that mentioned it basicly said, recline your seat a few notches and pull your seat belt tight across your lap, then jolt the belt to activate the locking mechanism, then recline your seat back to its original position pushing you into your locked seat belt holding you tight in your seat, bit like a 3 point harness.

Anyhow, tryed this on the way home from work, and wow, I couldnt belive how much of a difference this made to driving. You could really feel what the car wanted to do, Heel & Toe was massivly improved and alot smoother due to not sliding about in the seat under braking, I could corner harder and really feel what the car was doing and felt more confident lifting off mid corner to tighten my line.

I may invest in buying a CG lock but for now i'll stick with my new found free driving aid.

I used a CG for a short while in my 172, I found it to be a good device, but also found it fiddly to operate and had concerns over it causing damage to the belt.
