Changing ECU On MK2 172

Does the ECU only govern the engine management or does it also link into other stuff, eg alarm, immoboliser, sensors for airbags etc etc ?

Anyone ever had any probs, Thinkin of getting one, prob Group-N from Hillpower, Dont wanna mess up anything that relies on signals from ECU ie traction, ESP, ABS or anything for that matter

THe computer controls EVERYTHING.

The only thing it doesnt do is youre reversing light - unlike the mini where the ecu even controls that LoL

the injection computer is linked to lots of computers by using a multiplex wiring system.it is linked to abs/esp(both in the same computer),aircon,immobiliser,trip computer,airbag and headlight ballast computers(very new models only).a chip only remaps the injection computers running parameters so shouldnt affect other systems.

HAL: Ive just picked up a fault in the AE35 unit. Its going to go 100% failure in 72 hours.
