Changing engine oil

Need to change my engine oil, its black and gritty :dapprove:

Got the mk2 ph2 1.2 16v whats the best oil to use, how much will i need and do i need a new oil filter? if so which model. thanks for the help!

Any decent 5w40, I think it's around 4L on a 1.2, it should tell you in your log book tho. You'll need a new oil filter yus, don't know the model but GSF should

Get a genuine Renault oil filter ~£14, part number R82 00 025 862

^ 2 Different types of oil filter for the 1.2 16V so ask them if you can have both and return one, or just look through your offside front wheel and you'll see if its the metal type, or the plastic housing containing the cartridge type.

Cheers, it was the plastic one with the cardboard-y filter. The oil was absolutely black and very thin and runny.

Was serviced according to log book at a VW garage in Dec 2006. I bought the car April this year. Car's done 54000 miles, was on 48000 at the service. Is this normal for oil?
