changing oil 182

anyone changed the oil themselves on the 182? Doesnt seem to be an awful lot of room under the old bonnet! was thinking bout getting my oil changed after 2k miles or somert but dont really want to pay loads for a garage to put crap stuff in

I bought that ELF 5W40 sully-synth from a link off here for £55 for 24Ltr.

Reg Vardy are changing my oil tommorow for me tommorow for £38 +VAT so not too expensive really, and the car will have done 1400 miles.

Dont put fully synth in it to early, it should have covered at least 10k, hence the first service is a suitable time to start using it.

Why is that jon_R? A little curious now because i was just about to do just that!

Because fully synthetic is in effect to good. It wont allow the engine to bed in properly.

If you do a search im sure Ben R gave a more technical reason somewhere lol.

BTW £38 + Vat is extortionate.

I thought £38 was good from a DEALER, and dont newer engines need little mileage to be run in hence the 650 mile stated in the hand book, i know older cars used to take about 6Kmiles to be run in.

Im no mechanic though so help much appreciated.
