Cheap and Simple!!

Could anyone suggest a way i could improve performance on my little car other than the obvious ways of air filter,exhaust e.t.c
I only have a 1.4 16v and i know a way i could improve is by upgrading my car but the cost of running the car with insurance as well would be a nightmare. Any help would be grateful.

Reduce the weight of your car.

Reduce the weight will be the easiest / cheapest option although then you will have no rear seats and no sound deadening. Personally i would just leave it as it is and save for a faster car whilst building up no claims.

Or just learn to drive better than your mates who have quicker cars ... that's what I did in my 1.1 106
