Checking for air con leak

Is there any key places where the gas usually leaks? Mine went from working well to the compressor not even clicking on the next time I tries to use it, so I'm assuming there's a major leak.

Leaks are normally found in the exchanger unit seals and the exchanger itself due to strike damage. Not necessarily a leak though... System integrity could be 100% and so holding pressure just fine but isn't working due to a component failure such as the relay or even something as daft as the pressure sensor. The only way you're going to know for sure is diagnostics/live data on that system or go somewhere like "Kwik-Fit" and have them pump the system with a leak detector (Which will cost you) and they'll then send you on your way for a day or three so it can do its thing and leave a nice green mark on everything should there be an actual leak.

Thanks, that's helpful! I'll give the leak detector a go, driving around with open windows isn't doing my hayfever any good

Any garage that does air-con re fill's/re-gas will do it realy it is a bright green/yellow die put into the system as said above we sell quite a lot through work

Just got the seals on my compressor replaced today - mine was regassed first week in June and noticed last week it wasn't cooling the air at all as the compressor wouldn't kick-in (you normally hear a clunk or a change in engine tone)

£162 at Renault to replace the seals that were split and check & regas the system again. I was freezing on the way home

Could be that too ^ my car is almost 8 year old and don't think the aircon was ever touched lol
Got it's first pollen filter change last week too!
