Churchill & Mods, Is it a no go

anybody with churchill and have body/engine mods on there cars? what are they like? i just want some alloys, tints, apex kit and maybe an exhaust added on will they be ok with this?? im only 17 using 1 years no claims payed 1300 fully comp wot u guys reckon?

they only allow alloys... NOTHING else. (providing theyre not wider then the wheel arches). They dont charge you for this, but you must tell them.

trust me, ive had many arguments with them on this...

mate, i know everyone says it, but if u dont insure your mods your f**ked, if u need to use your policy.

Ive nearly been screwed on that one. Declare mods, its not worth the hassle.

finally got through to churchill and you were rite no tints!! shall i cancel my policy and find some1 who will insure me with tints or cancell my tints?

cheers

cancel the tints

not worth the extra bull for something that wont actually imptove the appearane of the car IMHO

Im with churchill paying £1089fc on a 1.2 I have been told that i cannot touch the car in anyway at all, not even lexus lights, alloys or an exhaust

if you really want tints, id go with a different insurance company, but how long have you been with them ?

not long passed test on 24 jan. they said i cant do any mods till im 25. i dont want to go through the hassle of cancelin my policy getin a new 1 so theyll cover my tints.

Ive just bought insurance with churchill tonight for my clio 1.2. Im 19 with 19 months expereince (Although i have to put 1 year down!!!)

It said no modifications in the smallprint, so before i punched in the credit card details i rang them. I acted dumb and said i wanted to double check that alloy wheel are allowed, they said No and would not insure me. I had to argue with them saying they came with the car. I didnt admit i had renault 16v rims on just incase they wouldnt insure me at all. Looks like ill have to dig my old 13 incher alloys out me the shed!!! As ^^^^^ mentioned your not allowed any modifications until your over 25.

Also, i just took pass plus after 19 months driving, bought my premium down £250. the course cost £90

churchill DO allow alloy wheels, providing they are the right size for the car.

Ive been with them for 2 years, and theres a note on my file saying ive got aftermarket alloys, i phone them every year to check.

"right size for the car" my standard car tyre sizes are 155/70/13. Yes they will allow my OE alloys of this size. Im on about the 195/50/15 tyres i have on my clio 16v wheels - they wont allow these.

That red car in your picture Mk2 clio would of come standard with 13/14 inch wheels. By looks of it your running on 15"+ So how did you get around that? and are you over 25?

im 21... they are 16" wheels.

the rule is they cant stick out further than the wheel arches. thats what i was told.

on renewal she even asked me if i still have the aftermarket alloy wheels on there, to which i replied yes.

its all in my very first post up there ^ ^, which seems to be invisible

Well in that case, why didnt they inform me of this when i rang up earlier. Im sick of insurance companies. By the sounds of your comments and other peoples, its a dirrerent rule for everybody, even with the same insurer!!! My last insurer was ok with it, but churchill are very strict.

and to your comment "its all in my very first post up there ^ ^, which seems to be invisible " your talking from your arse as you have not covered all my questions, hense your first two answers previous. Age being 21 and wheel sizes at 16"

excuse me?

next time you ask for help, i suggest you go f**k off.

thanks :)

Long term customers are often granted exceptions in some cases.

My previous Clio had 16" aftermarket rims and lowered suspension. Privilege said no mods to under 25s but as Id been a customer of theirs for 3 years theyd put it to the underwriters who then made an exception.

At the end of the day its down to the person on the end of the phone - some are anal some are not.
