Update!!!!!
Right then guys, been a while I know but big things have happened!
During the summer, I came across some very reasonably priced Wilwood 4pot brakes (cheers Meek
) I am running them with Brembo HC disks and Ferodo DS3000s pads. The brakes are brilliant, very cool to look at and slow the car very effectively. They got a great work out at Oulton Park were they never faded all day and just soaked up all the abuse I could give them. After a few laps with Alex he said he couldn’t believe how late I was braking and he was reached for the imaginary brake pedal
The cams went in on Tuesday along with a new standard Renault air filter and some new HT leads (they needed doing anyway). By 6pm Fred and I were on the road heading down to see Matt at TDF to get the car on the dyno and see what these new cams were all about.
Once Matt had it on the dyno the initial runs where quite promising with it making 185bhp pre map, we made a few phone calls and sent some emails to Paul at RS Tuning so he could have look and a bit of a fiddle. After a couple more runs, beers and McDonalds (If anyone want to make Matt happy just show him 20 chicken nuggets) it made 191.6bhp and 166ftlb of torque.
The extra power is definitely noticeable with a lovely chunk of torque at 3000rpm which makes day to day driving so effortless especially cruising along A roads and Motorways. As the revs raise the in gear acceleration is very satisfying, the 5000rpm ‘kick’ has gone but has been replaced with much smoother burst of acceleration with lasts for well into the top end of 6k. Matt and Paul have also improved the throttle response and it is very nice to drive. Its a little lumpy on cold start but it its negligible and disappears after 2minutes, the car also sounds much fruitier, with a harder edge to the exhaust note and has a much more ‘N.A Cammed’ tone to it.
I love them and would recommend them to anyone.
Future plans: 4 new tyres, De-cat, better breathing and Im looking into making the Sashs dampers height adjustable.
Doing Rockingham in March to really see what the cams are like.
