clio 1.2 16v strange noise

Hi all,

I have been starting my girlefriends car up while she is away for a few weeks and have noticed an odd rattle under very gental aceleration coming from the engine it can only be described as a "drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" noise. If you have heard this you will know what I mean.

The car has only done 3600 miles I will get her to take it to the dealer when she gets back but I am worried I cause it damage starting it if it is serious.

Any ideas please

have a look right at the back of the engine bay just behind the throttle body, on mine there was a black block that rattled like a goodun

get a picture of the engine bay and ill highlight it

then again, it is a hairdryer motor in there, so likely to just be struggling when cold, its a very noisy engine anyway

put the block block on, if you dont you will get water in the electrics and they will have to replace the wiring loom and throttle bodies, seems to happy to all clio 1.2s new shape!

nope, just left it how it was, it rattled from day one, its french, i left it as they intended

yeah i foudn that black steel block rattling around in the insulation at the back of the engine bay. Its eaten away at some of my insulation. I managed to snap it back in.

yea said black box also eats through the wires! had both my clios in for new wiring loom under warranty!! Rob.

Yup mines just the same, thought the tappets were goin or sommit for a while, sounded like my old fiesta!

middle of the back of the engine.....black metal box...at the top...

its easy to spot, literally right above the throttle body IIRC, its a little black metal casing/box

nope not as their meaning i dont think. i think they mean the newer 1.2 16vs that have the ecu in the plenum chamber with the loom connected to the outside

starter motors can and do come lose, also water pumps are a bit dodgy
