Clio 1.6 16v Project

Hi to all.
The car is a 99 clio 16v version with all the equipement less the leather seats.
I bought it maybe 4 years ago and it looked great, but i found out it had an acident and the previous owner just mascared that.
But well, let me show you the work i've done on it.

When i first bought it it was more or less like this:

Just had a new racesport exhaust, cristal side lamps and sport logo.
Ho, by that time it had the stilauto sr 500 wheels with new BF Godrich Gforce tyres and stock suspension, it drived quite well, but not quite the excelence it now has.
Only mods i've made him that time. So long ago.:)
This are the pics before it went to the garage to get it all fixed and inproved somethings, a job that me and my oncle have done.
I'll go on and put more pictures with time of the several transformation it had passed into.

Well the car at sight seemed ok but this was what it had behind all the paintwork and plastic:

Well, this are the pictures where you can see the damage the car had, it is not that perceptible but if you pay atention you can see the marks of a past impact in the left side of the car.

How did u come to stripping down the front?

Well, my car had a problem in the steering, it turned itself to the right always, first i thought it was because of the tyres, but then i put the right tyre in the left side and reverse with the other and found out that the problem was more severe.
Then my oncle whose "specialist" in the area looked at the car and saw that it had an acident and all was mascared by the previous owner.
I think this was your doubt. Hoppe to clear it.;)

Well, after detected the problems, whe saw that it was not good to leave that left part there and i went to pick one new from another clio, i got this:

In here is the part i got for my clio:D
i had the privilege to choose it, but it was kind of wierd to see it beying cut from another clio...its like a transplant, but it perfect for my litlle clio:approve:

Already with the new left part in place, it was almost cured.:D

After this i gave a good clean with apropriate product to the K4M it had in that time and well, i stripped out the interior to see if it was good.;)

Well, this was the begining, i will keep posting updates, but well the start was to fix the chassis problem, and then i focuse on handling and design, now i'm starting to mess with the engine, the last fase of it.;)

By the way, while my oncle worked on the front i worked on the suspension and brakes of the car...
I thought about H&R and KW coilovers, but well i liked the KW V2 more, they're more soft than the H&R and they where faster to deliever, so i got those coilovers.

A pic from the rs 172 rear disk brakes already in place, it lacked the calipers:

Material till now:
-KW spec2 coilovers (6cms front/5cms rear);
-Rear disk brakes from an rs 172;
-All sorts of renault original material it needed to be fixed.

Ps: Still had one thing to repair, the wheels, that where at the time some stilauto sr500.

Two photos from the engine, the old one, unfortnatly it lasted just for 140.000kms. One of the valves went on and made a hole on the 3rd cilinder piston.:dead:

Only mods it had was:
-K&N sports air filter (in the original airbox);
-racesport 90mm direct mufller;
-Supersprint intermediate or center exhaust pipe....

not having much luck with this car? dont like the badge, fact that its not a sport, prefere badgeless look anyway, dont like that exhaust, looks horrible, looks like a cannon, sticks out way too far, dont like the wheels either... am sure with you being on here most people dont, shall i say, 'tolerate' mods like that lol not being harsh but ppl would advise you to remove the mods uve done. HOWEVER!
I LOVE THAT SPORT BUMPER!!!! makes the front look soo fat and squat, love it!!! get it sorted and it will be a fine example!

Thanks for the coments,well, the part from the engine was really bad, cause it had new oil, and the engine temperature was ok, i pushed to about 6000rpm and it crashed...
About the way the car looked, well, i agree with you on the exhaust, i like the badges actually and i loved those wheels. I know that in here all people want speedline turinis wheels, but actually i think they're not that preety, actually i prefer this ones then the turinis, but i liked your coment, thanks.
This was almost two years ago, at the time i liked it this way. Now i like it like i have it now, and this is what it is important for me.;)
If anyone wants like you to coment, i will be happy to accept them.

Pictures from some improvements on august of 2007:


Front without license plate chrome frames... new transparent front side repeaters....


Wheels gone to repair, they where awesome and i think the picture was also very good....

And the rear exhaust was realocated into another place, it was much better now:

Alot of time put into it by the looks, get your self some rep side skirts & your away ;)
Yeah, lots of time and work on it.;)
I'm going to put some side skirts but well, i had other priorities, as you could see, first i had to put the car driving properly, then i was lucky to find those original rs front parts, and then i had to fix the wheels that weren't good, the car vibrated alot because of them.
And i also had to buy some tyres, well and these things are expensive, and well i have many other mods that i didn't show here...but for sure is going to have side skirts in future.:)

So 80782 miles and i had to change the front brake pads and disks.
I also gave a good cleaning up to them, change the brakes fluid and painted the callipers, some pictures from the work done:

Final result with ferodo premier pads(just to trie normal ones first), with brake callipers painted and 5.1 dot brake fluid...


Hope you guys like it. Cause i do;)
About braking, well i really liked the result and the brake pads are the same after more then 6213miles...

are they 16" oz f1 alloys youve got there?

This one's are 15 inches original oz racing f1's still.:approve:
Note that they're equal to the one's from the clio rs, but the one's that renault sell's, they have 4 holes(studs?!) covered, that's the diference between the original oz renault one's and this ones. regards

Also the renault version has a diff lip on the rim. Still nice though.

So even without the new weels or what so ever, i had taken this pics in Serra da Boa Viagem, Figueira da Foz...Hope you enjoy them.:approve:

Well, some actualizations have been made, just posting them here.

Assemble of the SS rear exausth pipes...unfinished work...



Another view on the unfinished work, you can see also that someone broke my right mirror at this time:dead:


Some duck tape to cover the cuting from the last exausth i had in the car, nem bumper was in the way, and as you can see i had a spare wheel on the left, the other one had to go to repair cause it was loosing air, nothing much, but quite a bizare look he had right know.lol

Now that you have the front RS bumper and wings you need to put spacers on as the wheels sit right inside the arch as it is now which looks gash.

Zorst looks laughable aswell tbh.
