clio 1.6 runnign rpoblem

its a mk2 phs 2 2003
on the m5 on he way from wales the elec fault/diesel heater light came on along with the emissions light (engine managment) so i called out the mechanic/breakdown and he said it was in limp mode because of the imobilser/ . i thought it was the ciol packs but he then said it wasnt because it wasnt missing .when i was folloing him to the break down yard on the oppsite side of the m5 it started missing and jerking


anyone any ideas?
 
Imobiliser won't cause it to go into limp mode.

Sounds like a coil has definatly gone new ones on the 1.6 are £43 each from Renault list price but they can be got cheaper for copy cat parts.

Once you've got the coils chnaged might need to get a garage to clear all the fauly codes in the ECU and even then it might take a bit of driving to get it to clear up check the air filter as well as the plugs and if it carrys on check the injectors.
