Clio 16v - Clutch Cable

Car  Mk1 Clio
It snapped yesterday and I got it fixed straight away by a garage.

I now can't select gears smoothly or at all !

Has anyone got any clues to let the garage know when I take it back the mora ?

Cheers

is it a official Renault cable you replaced it with? the others are crap and will snap again in a matter of months....

also the routing of the cable is very important and it can snag and be very stiff...

sorry mate, not too sure how much they are..

one of the other more mechanically minded peeps will be along soon to fill you in...

cheers for your help mate.

I will just ring my mate the mora and get one sorted !

I will try and fit this new one my self.

How easy is it to fit a clutch cable on axel stands ?

not actually done one myself but watched a mate do one....never heard him swear so much in my life...good luck.....;)

my misses snapped 3 non renault ones in her RT in apprx 1 year, reno one been in now for apprx 15months, nuff said.

Gettin a Renault one ordered the mora ! I will get it fitted ASAP.

It the Renault cable still gives me troubles of not letting me get into gear

Any tips if so ?

If it was fine before the i'd imagine the non renault one isn't seperating the clutch plates enough so its still partially transmitting drive to the gearbox making it difficult to get gears. The renault one should sort it out.

i got a non-reno clutch cable in my car, should be ok as it's routed properly. check the grommet on the cable that goes up into the bulkhead is sitting in the right place otherwise it will act like the cable is too short, might be worth having your ratchet replaced, did mine at the same time as the cable. What a nightmare they are to do!!

I found that mine struggled to engage for a while, especially reverse, but I think the pedal's self adjusting and will compensate?

Mine seems fine now anyway... lol
