clio 16v help

  182 cup

just went to put buy a 16 clio

its wiliams blue and done 78k on a j plate

thing is it was debadged and i kept thinking it was a rsi!

did they do rsis in that year?

i had everything a 16v has same dials interior etc and the engine had the fe16 wring on it

also the side plastcs on the drivers door said the letter"s"

and above the clear side indicators it said 16v on both sides in silver plastic

sorry if i sound stupid but i was just concerned

the log book also has it as a 1.8 16v

i always get rsis and 16 v mixed up

any advice appreciated

drive it and you will know what it is! listen to it and look at the engine. rsi looks different with the wings, scoop etc. Interior is bucketed and is generally just phat and rsis r generally just rank.

RSis dont look much like the 16v.. once youve seen a 16v and an RSi together.

S on the doors is wrong.. shouldnt have anything on the Phase1s.. or, if it had Phase2 bump strips, hes had them off a 1.4 S and just kept the badges!

itll be a valver if its got the engine other than an rsi with a valver engine!

easy way i used to tell is look at them from the back theres no mistaking one close up - you also notice that on lower sepc clios the side bump strips are flat all the way along the body, on a valver they cut into the body from the rear arch you can see the arches clearer if you follow the strips..

Its piss to tell!

Sounds like a Valver with Phase2 side strips on it. The Phase1 side strips dont have the model designation on them.

I think youre on fairly safe ground because the one thing you can get a private seller to refund on by law is if you are mis-sold something that doesnt match their description. Doesnt sound like and RSi to me.
